I am upset because I see a meaningless world.

Today’s exercise is supposed to be done with eyes open.

At the same time I’m in the middle of a major clearing of clutter. I moved three very, heavy book shelves, and all their contents (two or three thick) from one room to another.

My back is hurting a lot. My feet are hurting even more. At times I can hardly walk.

But I’m not upset…

I suppose the real lesson here is that when you act, there is no time to be upset.

When you act – you don’t think or at least you are not aware of the monkey mind’s constant chatter.

So again whether the world is meaningless or not is irrelevant.

My other computer just rebooted in the middle of listening to an audio book (and I’m clueless why it did that – for all I know it will do it again). This did not bother me. It just was. I have my task to do and that’s that.

From the workbook:

“What is meaningless is neither good nor bad. Why, then, should a meaningless world upset you? If you could accept the world as meaningless and let the truth be written upon it for you, it would make you indescribably happy.”

Perhaps I’m getting it for now. Since at this moment (even though I only see the past) nothing bothers me…

  • I think I see a peaceful world but I’m upset because I see a meaningless world.
  • I think I see a beautiful world but I’m upset because I see a meaningless world.

I repeat today’s affirmation and it doesn’t make much sense since I’m feeling very tired and mellow just now…

But that’s OK too.
