Show your cat who is the boss is the first post in kitty cat theology series – I love our cats totally unconditionally and I believe the way we treat our pets may give us clues about God’s relationship with us.

Show your cat who is the boss

It is exceedingly important to demonstrate forcefully to your cat who is the boss of the household. It is important that she understands that your job is to provide food, shelter and warmth and hence she has certain obligations to you. For example I came to write some posts with the cats. One of the cats loves to go to sleep on my lap at times.

This happens to be one of those times. So I had to put the laptop to my side and write awkwardly while she is comfortably sleeping on my lap.

Ask and you shall receive

In time I’ll need to go to the other room and get some tea. At that stage I’ll gently place her on the blanket placed on the leather couch so she will keep warm. She will complain.

God expects nothing from creation and loves you no matter what but cannot give you all her attention.

“Her attention.” Actually any God worth being real is beyond categories of gender while having characteristics of all genders (all the ten thousand from the different galaxies and universes). In reality God is beyond all categories. As the Tao Te Ching says, “The reality which can be categorized and described in words is not the ultimate reality.” I use she for God at times to counter our male dominated language of calling the ultimate as he and also to write about the unconditional loving aspect of God. Now when it is time t be severe and throw the cat off that is the masculine aspect of God.
