Paramahansa Yogananda Quotes

Paramahansa Yogananda is famous for having written Autobiography of a Yogi and was the person who introduced the West to Kria Yoga. He started the Self Realization Fellowship organization. The SRF has a few Ashrams (temples) in Southern California as well as other parts of the USA. He was truly an enlightened person whom many consider a saint.

But allow these quotes which complement the ideas of a Course in Miracles speak for themselves:

  • Self-realization is the knowing – in body, mind, and soul – that we are one with the omnipresence of God, that we do not have to pray that it comes to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God’s omnipresence is our omnipresence; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. All we have to do is to improve our knowing. (my notes – this is very similar to A Course in Miracles where the problem is the way we see and know the world, internal and external).
  • Life is worth nothing if it is not a continuous overcoming of problem. Each problem that waits for a solution at your hand is a religious duty imposed upon you by life itself. Any escape from problems, physical and mental is an escape from life, as there can be no life that is not full of problems.
  • All great teachers declare that within this body is the immortal soul, a spark of That which sustains us. (my notes – I assume Yogananda has capitalized That in the way of Tat Tuam Asi – That thou art, or the way C.G. Jung capitalizes the Self or I write the Ultimate Reality).
  • Suffering is caused by the misuse if free will.
  • The soul’s nature [as individualized Spirit] is bliss: a lasting state of ever-new, ever-changing joy.
  • The unlimited power of God is working behind all methods of healing, whether physical, mental, or vital.
  • If you cling to a certain thought with dynamic will power, it finally assumes a tangible outward form.
