Paramahansa Yoganada writes in his book, “Man’s Eternal Quest:”

“The greatest of all enemies of man is himself.”

He continues that more than anything else we should fear ourselves when we are wrong. And as A Course in Miracles tells us we live in a world of illusions. We are constantly wrong when we are not in touch with our God given function.

Paramahansa Yoganada continues

“To remain in ignorance of your divine nature and to be overpowered by bad habits is to make an enemy of your own self.”

He quotes the Bhagavad Gita in which Krishna said, “The Self is the friend of the transformed self, but the Enemy of the unregenerate self.”

Some more Paramahansa Yoganada quotes which complement or explicate ACIM:

  • True yogis are able to control the mind under all circumstances.
  • The romance with God is perfect and everlasting.
  • [say,] “I am a child of God. I have nothing to fear.”
  • pray [this way]: “Lord, You are within me and all around me. I am in the castle of Thy presence.”
  • Make your home a place of peace.
  • Your happiness should never be subject to any outside influence.
  • Don’t talk of evil, don’t think of evil, and don’t do evil.
  • Make everyone feel that you are a friend, that you are a helper, not a destroyer.
  • Make everyone else feel that you are an image of God, not by your words but by your behavior.
  • Emphasize the light, and the darkness will be no more.
