Forgive to show you are the light of the world

We start another series of review practice periods. A Course in Miracles workbook says about this:

The longer practice periods will follow this general form:

Take about fifteen minutes for each of them, and begin by thinking about the ideas for the day, and the comments that are included in the assignments. Devote some three or four minutes to reading them over slowly, several times if you wish, and then close your eyes and listen.

Repeat the first phase of the exercise period if you find your mind wandering, but try to spend the major part of the time listening quietly but attentively. There is a message waiting for you. Be confident that you will receive it. Remember that it belongs to you, and that you want it.

And the first idea for today is:

I am the light of the world.

Some specific forms for applying this idea when special difficulties seem to arise might be:

Let me not obscure the light of the world in me.
Let the light of the world shine through this appearance.
This shadow will vanish before the light.

First long exercise period:

  • As I kept repeating, “I am the light of the world,” I heard (not in sounds but through intuition):
“The  light of the world shows the way…”
“The light of the world is a teacher…”
“The light of the world teaches by example not by telling or conflict…”
  • Since my thoughts affect everyone, I need change my thoughts to thoughts of love and forgivness.
  • Unconditional love is the light of the world.
  • Let me celebrate that I’m the light by forgiving.

***

I’m sure I had noticed the second review thought but I did not remember it when the last part of the first long practice period basically brought in forgiving as part of being the light of the world.

Forgiveness is my function as the light of the world

Specific forms for using this idea might include:

Let this help me learn what forgiveness means.
Let me not separate my function from my will.
I will not use this for an alien purpose.

Second long practice:

  • The practice started with me thinking that I had forgiven everyone I need to forgive and I had no grudges then I heard, “You are not done yet.”
  • I had to search and remembered a few month ago the ceiling leaking because of the upstairs unit’s air conditioner had a problem. Their insurance company refused to pay and I had to use my own insurance company and then two weeks later another leak caused more water damage (again not my fault) and cost me a lot of time, hassle and money.
So that at least is one thing I need to forgive.
  • I’m sure there must be other things I need to forgive.

Later on tonight I’ll listen to my ultra forgiveness CD. I’ll report on that tomorrow.
