I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts

Today’s exercise picks up where yesterday’s left.

The workbook of A Course in Miracles continues:

The idea for today is obviously the reason why your seeing does not affect you alone. You will notice that at times the ideas related to thinking precede those related to perceiving, while at other times the order is reversed. The reason is that the order does not actually matter. Thinking and its results are really simultaneous, for cause and effect are never separate.

Today we are again emphasizing the fact that minds are joined. This is rarely a wholly welcome idea at first, since it seems to carry with it an enormous sense of responsibility, and may even be regarded as an “invasion of privacy.” Yet it is a fact that there are no private thoughts. Despite your initial resistance to this idea, you will yet understand that it must be true if salvation is possible at all. And salvation must be possible because it is the Will of God.

However, I think that like yesterday, today will be very easy for me. Philosophically I’m a radical monists which means I believe that anything less than the whole shebang (the multiverse in toto) is an illusion and all is one and only the one has any Ultimate Reality. Moreover I love the responsibility for my thoughts.

If I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts, I may wish to have more positive thoughts than if I were to be alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts. It is interesting that once I changed my attitude the challenges have diminished (not ended but just fewer and less frustrating challenges).

As I’m writing this at 5:31 a.m. I’m having some frustrations with my PC – but it is not bothering me as much as it would have before I started this workbook. Since I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts, I might as well have a good attitude and appreciate the good rather than what is missing and the slight challenges of life.

I somehow published this post earlier when I meant to save the draft – anyway today has been a slightly challenging day but because of the thought for today I kept a good attitude and life has been so much easier than it would have been if I felt frustrated.

So next time things don’t go the way you desire decide do you want to be right or do you want to be happy
